Robert Near will present a nature inspired body of photographic work for the months of January through March 2018 in his “LANDSCAPES AND NATURE FROM UPSTATE NEW YORK & BEYOND” photography exhibit at the Agroforestry Resource Center in Acra, NY.
A series of photographs depicting Landscapes and Nature from New York and neighboring states will be on display. The exhibit will feature conventional film printed on silver gelatin paper to digital images printed on archival paper, canvas and metal. Robert Near has been a lifelong resident of the Hudson River Valley in Columbia and Greene Counties of New York State. Living in this area, he is surrounded by a wealth of natural beauty, the Hudson River Valley, Catskill, Berkshire, and Adirondack Mountains. As a self-taught photographer for the past 40 years, he finds the challenge of capturing an iconic image is to look for that angle or condition that has yet to be captured. The world around us is constantly changing and to find that one in a million photograph he will visit the same locations over and over hoping for that moment in time when it all comes together for that iconic photograph.
Robert’s photographs have been featured in magazines and used for book covers. In 2016 NYSDEC selected Robert’s image featuring an apple tree from the mountain top area to be the featured image for the 2016 Arbor Day poster. Robert is a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and Greene County Camera Club. Robert Near was named a Silver Medalist during Professional Photographers of America's 2017 International Photographic Competition. Near’s work was on display at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, Jan. 14-16, 2018. This International Photographic Exhibit is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention and expo for professional photographers.
