Classes are on March 30, April 2 and April 3, all day. The National Safe Tractor & Machinery Operation Program and ATV Safety Workshop educates participants about: risks of farm related activities; how to act safely in different farm work settings; identifying and correcting farm hazards to prevent injuries and illnesses; and how to obtain safety information about equipment that they may be operating.
Youth 14 and 15 years old are required to have a Tractor and Machinery Operation Certificate when employed on farms and other agribusinesses that require operating equipment.
Youth will receive a National Safe Tractor and Machinery Operation Program (NSTMOP) certificate once they pass the written and tractor operation tests.Youth younger than 14 and working on the family farm or older than 15 are not required to take this course but are still welcome.
A mandatory registration meeting for parents and youth will be held on Monday, March 19 at 6:00 pm at the Extension Education Center in Hudson.Youth and parents will be given all materials, expectations and requirement for the certificate program.Transportation will be provided for all participants each day of the program.
