​Forest Pests and Diseases

This workshop will provide an introduction of invasive and native forest insect pests including the identification and management of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), Asian Long horned Beetle (ALB), Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, Sirex Wood Wasp, Gypsy Moth, Forest Tent Caterpillar, Eastern Tent Caterpillar, Beech Bark Beetle, and Conifer Bark Beetles.Invasive forest plants to be covered include Autumn and Russian olive, exotic buckthorns, Norway maple, Tree of Heaven, poison ivy, and wild grape. Diseases discussed will include the identification and management of Beech Bark Disease, Dutch elm disease, Ash yellows, and White Pine Blister rust. There will also be an update relating to the status of Emerald Ash Borer in the region. Preference will be given towards loggers earning their Trained Logger Certification (TLC).
