Lavenlair Farm, Whitehall, NY

"Lavenlair Farm is an ever growing work in progress. Our mission has long been "Make a living making a life worth living." We decided to live our dream, searched for the perfect place and found a stone farm house from 1820. We added all the green updates to give it a 21st Century zero carbon footprint; geothermal heat, solar hot water, well water, solar electricity, all sourced locally. In 2013 we hand built the "Laverinth" a 100ft diameter, lavender planted, Petit-Chartres meditative labyrinth. In 2014 we added 1600 lavender plants and in 2015, 2400 more. In 2016 & 2017 we partnered with Cornell University Extension to host studies of lavender and mint varieties hardy to the North Country. We now have 30 different varieties of lavender and several varieties of mint on the farm. Located in the rolling hills of the Champlain Valley of NY, our views stretch from the Green Mountains of Vermont to the Adirondacks all with one turn of your head."

Poor Devil Pepper Company, Hudson, NY

"Poor Devil Pepper Co. is us! Laura Webster & Jared Schwartz. We've been making fermented hot sauce since 2014. Our plan was to create the most flavorful hot sauce out there, free of additives and vinegar. So we made a raw, fermented hot sauce that uses only fresh, organic vegetables, organic seasonings and Celtic sea salt. We apply the same fermentation process as kimchi or sauerkraut to the peppers. This means we have a fermenting period of at least 6-8 weeks."

Rad Soap Company, Albany, NY

It all began in a small kitchen fueled by a mother’s love where founder, Sue Kerber searched for something natural to relieve her son’s eczema. In early 2009, she turned her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for blending natural ingredients into what is today known as the Rad Soap Co.
