Mushroom Foray - July 24

  • Saturday, July 24, 2021, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

One of the best ways to learn about wild mushrooms is to accompany an experienced mushroom person into the field. We will meet at the CCE’s Agroforestry Resource Center and walk across the road to the Siuslaw Model Forest for the foray. As we explore its mushroom-rich woods, Bob will talk about the mushrooms he recognizes and discuss their edible, medicinal, and other usages. After the walk, we will sort and display the mushrooms on tables in a hands-on session, and learn some of the methods used in identifying them. Join us for an interesting outing and ID class. Dress for the weather. In the event of extended dry conditions, the foray may be rescheduled. This workshop fills up quickly with a limit of 12 participants.

While the CDC and NYS have announced the lifting of requirements for mask-wearing by those who have been vaccinated, CCE of Columbia & Greene Counties’ visitors and program participants, whether vaccinated or not, will be required to wear masks indoors. In addition, in order to meet the six-foot social distancing requirement that remains in place, we will continue to limit indoor meetings in the Acra and Hudson facilities to 15. For programs and meetings taking place outdoors, masks are required whenever the CDC/NYS physical distance requirement (six(6) feet) cannot be met. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation.
