Sustainable Forestry Practices for Healthy Ecosystems

Come join the Capital Region PRISM a Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia Greene Counties Agroforestry Resource Center for a woods walk. The event will feature a 1.5-mile walk and discussion showcasing sustainable forestry practices to promote resilient and healthy ecosystems. The event is part of the New York State Invasive Species Awareness Week.

Topics for discussion: Habitat enhancements like riparian buffers, assessing tree stand improvement methods, the identification, and control of invasive species including forest pests detrimental to our wood lots, and agroforestry options to grow bountiful and diverse woodlands with native plants. Receive a Forest Health Scorecard to take home and assess your own property.
