Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties is pleased to announce that Katie Campbell-Nelson has joined the Association. Katie is the Professional Development Program Coordinator for Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE).
Katie received her B.A. from Earlham College, Indiana and an M.S. in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In addition to her tenure with Northeast SARE and prior to joining CCE, Katie worked with the University of Massachusetts as an Adjunct Instructor in the Stockbridge School of Agriculture (2011 – 2015) and for the UMass Extension Service as a Research Assistant in the Crops, Dairy Livestock Program (2007-2009), a Research Fellow for the UMass Turf Pathology and Breeding Laboratory (2009 – 2011), and Extension Educator in the Vegetable Program (2013-2019, Team Leader 2015-2019).Prior to her 10 years of agricultural extension service, Katie has worked with non-profits Northeast Organic Farming association to host conferences and conduct fundraising, and Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture as a mentor for a beginning women farmers’ whole farm planning course. She also has past experience as a producer in Massachusetts: meat CSA manager for Bostrom Farm in Greenfield and grower/sales of vegetables and shiitakes for Foundry Village Farm in Colrain. Katie and her husband Russell now live on 80 acres in Hannacroix, NY.
Katie’s office will be based out of CCE’s Agroforestry Resource Center in Acra where she hopes to develop relationships with peers in pursuit of sustainable agriculture. Her email is [email protected]
