Program description: This workshop will feature a Pre-program Woods Walk in the adjacent Siuslaw Model Forest with registration at 3 PM.The Woods Walk will be followed by a light supper at 5:30 with the evening presentation to start at 6:30.

Pre-program Woods walk:A timber sale on the Siuslaw Model Forest will be re-visited with discussions and observations on-site.The consultant forester and CCE staff associated with the timber harvest will share insights into decisions made as the planning process progressed.This will be a primer that will include both the basic terms and the professional nuances included in a timber harvest contract. The impact of weather conditions, the contractor’s equipment mix, site conditions, market volatility and woodland owner expectations all contributed to the harvest outcomes.Come and see!

Supper: Light fare and good conversation with fellow woodland owners and professionals.

Evening Presentation:“Healthy Woods Are Productive Woods “.Woodland owners who are interested in timber revenue will benefit by first having healthy and productive woodlands. This presentation will explore some key strategies to ensure that your trees are healthy, vigorous and productive. Also, you will learn about different types of foresters and how to find a forester that fits with your needs as an owner. Finally, the timber sale process is new to many people, so you’ll learn the basics of a timber sale and key components to include in the sale contract you take to your attorney.

Registration fee of $20 includes food and refreshments.
