Educator Workshop – Mushroom Log Inoculation

  • Monday, May 3, 2021, 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties’ 4-H Youth Development program on May 3 as they host an Educator Workshop on inoculating logs with mushroom spawn.

This workshop offers a unique opportunity for garden educators, teachers, and community youth group leaders teaching in Columbia and Greene Counties to learn all about growing mushrooms with students. Led by Tracey Testo, CCE’s Natural Resources and the Environment Program Coordinator, the program will include useful information on decomposers and growing mushrooms on a small scale. Tracey will lead the group in inoculating logs with wine cap and shitake mushroom spawn. Each participant will be able to take the log back to their garden or yard and share the growing process with students! This workshop is free due to the generous support of the Hudson River Bank & Trust Company Foundation.

The Workshop will take place on May 3rd, 4:30pm to 6:30pm, at the Agroforestry Resource Center, 6055 Rt, 23, Acra, NY. Space is limited and COVID-10 safety protocols will be followed.

Registration is due by April 30th
