Keeping Forests Healthy

  • Saturday, June 5, 2021, 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Do you want to manage your woods to a state of health and vigor, but don’t know where to start? Join us for this outdoor, hands on workshop to learn how to assess your woods and start planning for action. This workshop highlights the “Keep Forests Healthy Assessment and Scorecard”, a tool developed in collaboration between The Nature Conservancy and CCE to help landowners identify the strengths and risks to the long term health of their woodlands. Using the scorecard, we will explore the elements of a healthy forest and learn how to assess woodlands with key forest health concepts. This is a great tool for landowners, stewards and forest professionals.

Participants can learn about the scorecard and how to use it by watching a brief webinar before the workshop. Then we’ll take to the woods to experience the tool in the Siuslaw Model Forest! Please dress appropriately for an outdoor, woodland workshop. The event will include a (~1 mile?) walk. Sturdy shoes, tick protection and water is recommended.
