The importance of the natural world to human health has long been recognized. In the 1980s the Japanese coined a term for it – shinrin-yoku – which means taking in the forest atmosphere during a leisurely walk. Forest Bathing is using the medicine of the forest to reduce stress and support healing and wellness. Join us as we take to the woods to practice forest bathing in the Siuslaw Model Forest! We will slow down and notice – consciously taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of the forest and connecting with its healing powers. We’ll make a few stops along the way to engage our senses, deepen connections with the natural world, relax and take it all in! This event will be limited to 20 participants. No advance preparation is needed for forest bathing. There’s no right or wrong way to do it and it’s great for all ages; just come and be yourself. Everyone is welcome in the forest. Please dress appropriately for an outdoor, woodland walk. Sturdy shoes, tick protection, and water are recommended for this fun interactive event!
While the CDC and NYS have announced the lifting of requirements for mask-wearing by those who have been vaccinated, CCE of Columbia & Greene Counties’ visitors and program participants, whether vaccinated or not, will be required to wear masks indoors. In addition, in order to meet the six-foot social distancing requirement that remains in place, we will continue to limit indoor meetings in the Acra and Hudson facilities to 15. For programs and meetings taking place outdoors, masks are required whenever the CDC/NYS physical distance requirement (six (6) feet) cannot be met. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation.
