Join us at the Agroforestry Resource Center for a workshop on Multifunctional Riparian Buffers. This agroforestry practice intentionally combines water quality protection & conservation with sustainable food and forest production. In this workshop, participants will explore how to incorporate native, perennial, and often edible plant species into a fruitful buffer system that promotes healthy freshwater ecosystems and agroforestry products.
The workshop includes a classroom presentation on basic stream function, buffer assessment, and establishment using our newly developed Multifunctional Riparian Buffer Guide. Participants will also learn about a local buffer case study and visit a demonstration site for a hands-on component. Participants will be invited to stay after the workshop to discuss their multifunctional riparian buffer goals with peers and presenters. A light lunch will be provided.
Please dress appropriately for both indoor and outdoor conditions. Sturdy shoes, tick protection, and water are recommended.
