Enjoying Wildlife in the Forest

The forests in Columbia and Greene Counties give us a wonderful opportunity to see and enjoy wildlife. Fortunately, there are many books and other publications that will help you make the forest better for wildlife.

Here are some selected on-line resources that will make your forest / wildlife interest the most it can be:

  • Attracting Woodland Wildlife: A Primer - By Gary R. Goff, Cornell University Department of Natural Resources Discusses the important elements of forests that wildlife need, and what you can do to improve wildlife habitat.
  • Forest Stewardship: Wildlife, from Penn State University Extension, describes the many ways you can attract wildlife to your forest, including different forms of wildlife, planning for wildlife, and integrating timber harvests with wildlife effectively.
