Do you believe in the power of good food and strong communities? Are you someone who enjoys sharing what you know about gardening—or someone who just really wants to help others learn how to grow their own food?
We’re excited to invite you to become a volunteer facilitator or educator for Seed to Supper, a community-based gardening and food access program rooted in dignity, shared learning, and resilience. We're partnering with Spark of Hudson to offer this program in early summer 2025, and we’re looking for people who care about food justice, connection, and making knowledge accessible to all.
Classes will run Wednesdays from May 7 through June 11, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, at The Spark of Hudson (502 Union St, Hudson, NY 12534) with a free community meal from 5:30–6:00.
As a facilitator, you’ll help create an encouraging, hands-on learning space for beginner gardeners who want to grow food on a budget. You don’t have to be a gardening expert—just someone willing to learn, share, and lead with heart. Facilitators will always work in a small team of 2–4 people, so no one will be expected to lead a class alone—it's all about collaboration, shared strengths, and supporting each other.
To get you ready, we’ll provide a 2-part training on April 30 and May 2, from 5:00–8:00 pm at the Extension Education Center in Hudson. You'll receive everything you need to feel confident leading a class, supporting participants, and helping make this season a success.
We especially welcome folks from diverse backgrounds and life experiences—whether you’re a Master Gardener Volunteer, a local educator, a parent, a high school or college student, a community organizer, or someone simply excited to grow food and grow community. Facilitators must be available to attend all Wednesday evening classes during the program.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a meaningful difference. If you have any questions or want to talk more about the program, I’d love to connect.
Warmly,
Xandra Powers
