CCE of Columbia and Greene Counties Hires New Agriculture Educator

CCE of Columbia and Greene Counties Expands Its Agricultural Support With The Hiring of a New Agriculture Educator.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties is excited to welcome Rachael Sylvester to the Association as the new Agriculture Subject Educator.

Rachael's agricultural journey started on her family’s farm in Allegany County. After 10 years of working with livestock through 4-H, Rachael moved on and earned a Bachelor's degree in Plant Science from SUNY Cobleskill. She is currently completing her Master's degree in Agricultural Education from SUNY Oswego.

Rachael's experience includes working with farmers and producers in various capacities, including managing the farm stand of Stoneledge Farm and teaching agriculture courses at the Hart 2 Hart Farm’s summer camp. She is passionate about supporting local agriculture and promoting sustainable practices to ensure the future of our region's food supply.

As the new Agriculture Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties, Rachael will work closely with local farmers to identify their needs and address them by providing research-based programming and resources.

"We are incredibly excited to have Rachael Sylvester join us as our Agricultural Educator!" said Lisa Gallina, Executive Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties. "Rachael will support our agricultural community by connecting them to research, resources and programs from Cornell University and the Extension system.”

Rachael is excited to start her new role and looks forward to using her knowledge of agriculture to help local farmers and producers. If you have agricultural questions for her, you can reach out to her by email at rls489@cornell.edu or leave her a message at (518) 622-9820 ext 113.
