This webinar will help you take a deep dive into your forest soils. Taylor Richmond of SUNY ESF will explain the importance of healthy soils on tree growth, the impact of logging on soil productivity, and ways you can protect your soils. Taylor will also explore her new and promising research into attachable tracks for logging equipment to reduce soil compaction. This program will leave you with a better sense of your own land and plenty of resources to get to know your soils!

Background

This webinar will be taught by Taylor Richmond. Taylor is currently completing her Master of Science degree in Forest Resource Management at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Her thesis research is looking into a new technology for logging skidders, single wheel attachable tracks and their comparative ability to reduce soil compaction as compared to bare tires and tires with chains. Taylor’s passion for forestry began at Virginia Tech’s College of Forest and Natural Resource Management in 2012 and she has been working in the sector ever since.
