Join us at the Mountain Top Arboretum for a workshop on Multifunctional Riparian Buffers. This agroforestry practice intentionally combines water quality protection & conservation with sustainable food and forest production. In this workshop, participants will explore how to incorporate native, perennial, and often edible plant species into a fruitful buffer system that promotes healthy freshwater ecosystems and agroforestry products.
The workshop includes a classroom presentation on basic stream function, buffer assessment, and establishment using our newly developed Multifunctional Riparian Buffer Guide. Participants will also visit a field site to tour a streamside buffer. Participants will be invited to stay after the workshop to discuss their multifunctional riparian buffer goals with peers and presenters. Snacks to bring on the tour will be provided.
Please dress appropriately for both indoor and outdoor conditions. Sturdy shoes, tick protection, and water are recommended.
