Paint Making with Invasive Plants

  • Sunday, November 1, 2026, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
  • Sunday, November 8, 2026, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Through mini presentations and hands-on paint-making, this workshop explores what positive relationships might be possible once we stop seeing invasive plants only as something to fight, without denying ecological harm. The presentation includes color samples made from 30 species of invasive plants, non-native plants and weeds, a brief history of Toringo Crabapple in Japan, and grassland birds whose habitat depends on the local farms where teaching materials were collected. Participants will take home a bottle of plant pigment and a list of low-cost, recycled-material options that allow them to continue paint-making independently.
