Art has long been an integral part of the Agroforestry Resource Center. Former Natural Resources Leader Marilyn Wyman, in collaboration with CCE supporter and acclaimed pastel artist Stanley Maltzman, initiated a tradition of bringing both established and emerging artists to exhibit their work in our 1,000 sq. ft. event space. We are proud to continue this legacy, providing a platform for local and rising artists to share their creations with the public.
Please sign up for our newsletter to receive updates about upcoming applications or reach out to us at [email protected].
Our shows are available for viewing during business hours, Monday through Friday 8:30-4:00 while there are no events happening. Please call ahead at 518-622-9820 to make sure the space is available for public viewing.
We're pleased to be collaborating with CREATE Council on the Arts to help curate shows and find new artists to fill our space.

I have been drawing since I was 6. Early In my career I drew and painted mostly horses and people. But
nature has always been a balm and an inspiration for me so in recent years I have done more work
celebrating God’s creation. Though I was accepted to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts on the basis of my black and white drawings, I soon transitioned to pastels and then to oil paint. I studied at PAFA for two years. There were many years when I was raising a family and working that I painted very little. In 2008 I began a decorative painting business and started working with acrylic, painting murals, and doing faux finishing. Now in my retirement, with the help of 3 good teachers, I have rediscovered pastels. I revel in the landscapes in the Catskills and feel very blessed to live here.
“The beauty of the colors is what first draws us into these pictures. Then, subtle compositions hold our attention while mysterious narratives invite lingering.”
“My work is inspired by specific 17th—and 18th-century French paintings seen through the lens of 19th—and 20th-century expressionism. I’m attracted to the representation of dreamlike settings in nature, sometimes inhabited by figures, often incorporating architecture and sculpture. In the 18th century, artists depicted the natural world as a place of pleasure and love, but with the certainty that all pleasures are transient.”
“Combining abstraction and representation, involvement in the painting process is key for me. As Helen Frankenthaler said, “let the picture take you where it must go.” – Lois Walsh
